Anthony Davis scores a franchise-record 59 points with 20 rebounds

Anthony Davis put his talents on full display on a record-setting Sunday afternoon performance, scoring a franchise-record 59 points and pulling down 20 rebounds to lead the Pelicans to a 111-106 victory against the Detroit Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Davis made 24 of 34 shots and scored 33 of his 59 points after halftime.

Davis' points and rebounding totals were the most in a game since former Lakers star Shaquille O'Neal scored 61 points and grabbed 23 rebounds against the Los Angeles Clippers on March 7, 2000.

Davis is only the third player in NBA since 1983 to score at least 50 points and grab 20 rebounds in a game. Chris Webber scored 51 points and grabbed 26 rebounds against Pacers in 2001.

Davis also is the 20th player in NBA history to score at least 59 points in a game.
