Virginia will be without starting point guard London Perrantes and backup forward Evan Nolte for their opener against James Madison, the school announced Friday.
Nolte and Perrantes have been suspended for violating team rules in the summer. Nolte averaged 2.8 points off the bench last season, while Perrantes averaged 5.5 points and a team-leading 3.8 assists.
David Teel of the Daily Press in Newport, Va., reported that Nolte had an alcohol incident in the offseason, however there is no word on the reason for Perrantes' suspension.
