Monta Ellis has decided to test free agency, opting out of the final season of his contract with the Dallas Mavericks. The move became official on Wednesday.
Ellis, who led the team in scoring last season at 18.9 points per game, is coming off two hugely successful years with the Mavericks.
The 29-year-old originally signed a three-year deal before the 2013-14 season, with the 2015-16 season at his option. He was set to make $9-million next season.
