Barring an unforeseen change in direction, Houston Rockets small forward Francisco Garcia intends to opt out of the final year of his contract to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
One source with knowledge of the situation explained that the justification in doing so would be for the veteran to secure a multi-year deal. He is not against re-signing with Houston, we're told.
Garcia, 32, signed a two-year, $2.6 million contract with the Rockets last offseason.
