Georgetown center Josh Smith will miss the remainder of the season because of academic issues, coach John Thompson III announced Friday.
Smith transferred from UCLA to Georgetown after the first semester of his junior season and, in a controversial move that defied traditional logic, was ruled eligible before the start of this season and given two full years of eligibility. Smith was averaging 11.5 points and 3.4 rebounds.
