Three UTEP players involved in betting

Three UTEP men's basketball players have been dismissed from the program for gambling on sporting events, school officials announced Tuesday. The announcement followed an FBI investigation into allegations of gambling.

"To date, there is no indication of point shaving," UTEP Executive Vice President Richardo Adauto said at a news conference. "They were not betting on UTEP games."

Adauto said coach Tim Floyd received information late last month that players had been betting, and the school officials immediately reached out to local FBI officers. Floyd indefinitely suspended two — leading scorer McKenzie Moore and reserve Jalen Ragland — on Dec. 28. On Monday, the FBI told UTEP officials that a third player, Justin Crosgile, was also implicated.

All three are no longer a part of the men's basketball program and will not enroll in school when classes resume later this month, Adauto said.
