Stephen Curry hits 13 consecutive shots to win Three-Point Contest

The Warriors' Stephen Curry took his rightful place as one of the greatest shooters in history, capturing the 3-point contest title while facing arguably the strongest field ever assembled.

With the Brooklyn crowd at the All-Star Saturday event crescendoing as he caught fire, Curry took down teammate Klay Thompson and Cleveland's Kyrie Irving in the championship round behind 13 consecutive swishes.

It was Thompson who had led all first-round competitors with a 24-point performance after going 7 for 9 on money-ball shots. Curry and Irving each scored 23 points in the first round, with the eventual champion making 8 of 9 money-ball shots.

Eliminated after the first round were Portland's Wesley Matthews (22) and Atlanta's Kyle Korver (18), who leads the league in 3-point accuracy. Reigning champion Marco Belinelli (18), the Los Angeles Clippers' J.J. Redick (17) and Houston guard and NBA scoring leader James Harden (15) also were knocked out in the first round.
