Lawrence Frank and Nets agree to a buyout

Lawrence Frank and the Nets finally agreed to a buyout, a source confirmed Thursday, ending an unfortunate pairing and clearing the way for the coach to join Doc Rivers’ staff with the Clippers.

Frank was hired last year as the most expensive assistant in league history, armed with a contract for six years and $6 million while charged with transitioning Jason Kidd into coaching.

But the relationship soured quickly and ended in December when Frank was “re-assigned” to writing daily reports.
