Wizards forward Martell Webster to have season-ending surgery on hip

For nearly two months, Martell Webster tried to play through the pain and he was on the practice floor for the Washington Wizards the day before the regular season started.

The progress, however, was short-lived. Webster hasn’t appeared in game this season and has decided to go the other route. He will undergo surgery Friday in Nashville.

Webster said he expects to be sidelined four to six months, but a person with knowledge of the situation said such surgeries usually require eight to 10 months of recovery.
