J.R. Smith likely to decline $6.4M player option

J.R. Smith left a less-than-desirable situation with the Knicks halfway through the NBA season and finished the year in the NBA Finals with the Cavaliers.

And after Cleveland’s Game 6 loss, Smith said he may be on the move again as he “probably” plans to opt out of the final year of his contract.

Although the final year on his deal is worth more than $6 million, Smith clearly hopes his scoring ability attracts a larger number from another team.
