Nets won’t cut Deron Williams to get out of luxury tax bind

Asked if the team had any plans to buy out or “stretch” Deron Williams’ deal, in which the team would have more seasons to pay out the remainder of his pact, Nets general manager Billy King replied with a curt, “No” on Wednesday, likely dimming the hopes of a few Nets fans who have been disappointed with his play.

King repeated his desire to bring back Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young even if it means having to pay the luxury tax next season, which would make the Nets have to pony up for the dreaded “repeater tax.”
