Pistons decline option on Chauncey Billups

The Detroit Pistons announced on Monday that they declined to pick up Chauncey Billups's $2.5 million team option for 2014-15, potentially bringing an end to his playing days.

Billups, 37, a former Nugget and Colorado native, recently told 9News in Denver that he was considering retirement.

Billups, a 16-year NBA veteran, has played for seven different NBA teams in his career, averaging 15.2 points and 5.4 assists per game while shooting 41.5 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from three.
