Kings close to buyout with Jimmer Fredette

The Sacramento Kings are finalizing a buyout agreement with third-year guard Jimmer Fredette, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to USA TODAY Sports.

The former BYU sensation who was drafted 10th overall in 2010 never found a consistent role with the Kings, and it appeared likely leading up to the Feb. 20 trade deadline that he would be sent elsewhere.

This season, Fredette was averaging 11.3 minutes and 5.9 points per game (47.5% overall, 49.3% from three-point range).
