Solomon Jones to undergo surgery for meniscus tear

Solomon Jones looked forward to the Orlando Magic’s home opener Friday night against the Pelicans.

The Mount Dora native wanted to play in front of family and friends as a member of the Magic’s regular-season roster. But that dream has been delayed.

Team officials revealed Friday that Jones has torn lateral meniscus cartilage in his left knee and will be out indefinitely.

Team officials said Jones will need surgery, but Jones said Friday night that a second medical opinion is being sought and there’s a possibility he won’t need surgery.
