Grizzlies forward Ed Davis was fined $15,000 on Monday for a flagrant foul on Rockets forward Donatas Motiejunas during Houston’s 92-73 preseason victory last week.
The league deemed Davis’s foul to be “excessive and unnecessary contact.”
With 8:42 remaining in the fourth quarter and Houston leading 74-54, Davis swung his left arm down across Motiejunas’ face as the Lithuanian attempted a putback in the paint. Motiejunas went stumbling to the court immediately and Davis was assessed a Flagrant Foul 2, which necessitates an automatic ejection.
