Former NBA player Darrall Imhoff passed away Friday in Bend, Oregon, at age 78 of a heart attack.
A 12-year veteran of the NBA, Imhoff played for the Knicks, Pistons, Lakers, Sixers, Royals (now Kings) and Trail Blazers.
Nicknamed "The Ax", Imhoff averaged 7.2 points and 7.6 rebounds in 801 games and played in the 1967 NBA All-Star Game while with the Lakers.
Imhoff played collegiately at the University of California and won the NCAA Championship in 1959. In 1960, Imhoff played for the United States men's Olympic team which won the gold medal in Rome alongside future Hall of Famers Jerry West and Oscar Robertson.
