The Golden State Warriors clinched the best overall record in the NBA for a third-straight season following tonight’s 120-111 victory at Phoenix, securing the top overall seed in the 2017 NBA Playoffs.
Golden State improved to 65-14 (.823) on the season, becoming the first team in NBA history to win at least 65 games in three-straight campaigns.
The Warriors are the first team to own the league’s best record outright in three-straight seasons since the Boston Celtics did so from 1983-84 to 1985-86, joining the Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers as the only franchises in NBA history to earn the top seed in the postseason in three-straight seasons.
The Warriors finished the road schedule with a 31-10 record (.756) to become the first team in NBA history to win at least 31 games away from home in consecutive seasons (Golden State won an NBA-record 34 road games in 2015-16).
The Warriors have now won 205 regular-season games over the last three seasons, the most regular-season wins in NBA history over a three-season span.
