Sixers rookie forward Ben Simmons would be forced to miss the rest of the season while continuing to recover from the right foot fracture he suffered on the final day of training camp.
At the time that the league’s trading window was closing, Simmons was in New York, receiving his latest monthly CT scan. According to Bryan Colangelo, Sixers' President of Basketball Operations, the results of the test revealed that one of the bones in Simmons’ right foot still hadn’t fully healed.
Between the estimated amount of time needed for the 20-year old to make a full recovery, and the amount of time left in the season, the Sixers felt it wouldn’t be prudent to rush Simmons back, especially with his foot requiring another scan in a month.
