Retired Gen. Martin Dempsey, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is set to replace Jerry Colangelo as the chairman of USA Basketball, according to league sources.
The USA Basketball board of directors will approve Dempsey’s candidacy at a Nov. 14 meeting.
Colangelo will continue as managing director of the senior men’s national team and plans to work through the 2020 Olympics with new national team coach Gregg Popovich.
