The Denver Nuggets retired the No. 55 jersey of finger-wagging, shot-blocker extraordinaire Dikembe Mutombo in a halftime ceremony on Saturday night.
“Nobody would have thought a son of the Congo would have his jersey retired in two arenas,” Mutombo told the Pepsi Center crowd.
Mutombo, who was drafted by the Nuggets with the fourth pick of the 1991 NBA Draft, is still the team leader in blocked shots (1,486) blocked shots and career rebounding average (12.3 per game).
