The Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club has signed guard Dennis Schröder to a contract extension, it was announced Wednesday by President of Basketball Operations/Head Coach Mike Budenholzer.
The deal is a 4-year contract worth $70 million, according to ESPN, with $62 million guaranteed -- at a flat annual rate of $15.5 million -- and the remaining $8 million achievable through incentives.
“I am excited to sign this long-term deal with the Hawks. Since coming from Germany as a rookie, this organization and the entire city of Atlanta has embraced me and watched me grow,” Schröder said.
Schröder, 23, posted single-season career highs in points per game (11.0), rebounds (2.6), assists (4.4, which tied for 30th in the NBA), steals (0.9) and games played (80) during the 2015-16 season.
In his 16 career starts, the Hawks have posted an 11-5 record (.688) and he has averaged 13.9 points, 6.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 29.1 minutes per game.
In his three-year career, he has played in 206 games and has career averages of 8.9 points and 3.7 assists in 18.3 minutes per game.
