Kevin Durant on Monday morning announced his intention to sign with the Warriors, leaving Oklahoma City and rejecting other four franchises that made pitches for his services during a whirlwind weekend in the Hamptons.
“The primary mandate I had for myself in making this decision was to have it based on the potential for my growth as a player — as that has always steered me in the right direction,” Durant wrote on The Players’ Tribune.
“With this in mind, I have decided that I am going to join the Golden State Warriors.”
Durant is expected to ink a two-year, max deal for $54.3 million. He’ll hold a player option for the second season of the contratc.
