Kansas freshman Cheick Diallo has been cleared to start playing for the Jayhawks on Dec. 1, the NCAA announced Wednesday afternoon.
The NCAA approved an initial eligibility waiver for Diallo after Kansas, last week, provided the governing body with the results of an independent review of Diallo's coursework at Our Savior New American, a private school in New York.
Still, the NCAA concluded Diallo received a "limited amount of extra benefits," and punished the Mali native with a five-game suspension.
