The Philadelphia 76ers will pay tribute to Sixers great and NBA legend Moses Malone with a Tribute Night game Tuesday, December 1 at 7:00 p.m. against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Sixers will honor the three-time NBA MVP with special tributes throughout the game, including an appearance by Malone’s 1982-83 NBA Championship teammate Julius “Dr. J.” Erving.
The Sixers organization will make a special presentation to Malone’s family, who will reveal a major announcement at halftime that will honor his legacy as a Sixer.
Malone signed with Sixers as a veteran free agent on September 2, 1982. In five seasons with the Sixers he averaged 24.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game, including 22.7 points and an NBA-high 15.3 rebounds during the 1982-83 Championship season.
Malone was a three-time NBA MVP, including during the 1982-83 NBA Championship season with Sixers, wherein he was also an NBA Finals MVP.
He was a 12-time NBA All-Star, including all four seasons during his first stint with Sixers from 1983-86, and six-time NBA rebounding champion, including the 1982-85 seasons with Sixers.
