Tristan Thompson may choose to sign the one-year qualifying offer, and become an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the 2016 season.
If he goes that route, however, he may burn his bridge with the Cleveland organization.
Thompson's agent Rich Paul told Michael Grange of Rogers Sportsnet that if Thompson doesn't get the max contract he's seeking and is forced to play next season on a one-year deal, it will be his last as a member of the Cavaliers.
