The Cleveland Cavaliers have exercised the option to extend the term of Timofey Mozgov’s contract to include the 2015-16 Season.
This past season, Mozgov appeared in 81 games (80 starts) with Denver and Cleveland and averaged 9.7 points on .555 shooting from the field (fourth in NBA), 7.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 25.3 minutes.
In 46 games (45 starts) for the Cavs, the 7-1 center from Russia averaged 10.6 points on .590 shooting, 6.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 25.0 minutes per game.
He posted 18 double-doubles (nine with Cleveland) and his 1.2 blocks per game was the highest by a Cavs player since Zydrunas Ilgauskas in 2007-08 (1.6).
Mozgov also started in all 20 games during Cleveland’s NBA Finals run in the postseason, averaging 10.6 points on .500 shooting, 7.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 26.5 minutes.
