Scott Skiles, who spent parts of five seasons coaching the Bulls, has emerged as the frontrunner to land the Orlando Magic head coaching job, sources confirmed.
Yahoo Sports first reported over the weekend that Skiles had separated himself from a select group, which at one point appeared headed to include Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau.
Skiles went 165-172 in his Bulls' stint, coaching the franchise's first playoff appearance since the dynasty ended in 2004-05.
Longtime NBA writer Peter Vecsey reported on Twitter that Skiles will be named Magic coach this week.
