Kansas coach Bill Self announced Thursday assistant coach Jerrance Howard will serve a two-week suspension after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor drug possession in Peoria (Ill.) County last summer. The suspension began Thursday.
“I take full responsibility for my actions,” Howard said in a release, “I should have never been in that situation."
The Peoria Journal Star were the first to report the story Wednesday about Howard's plea, adding the charge stemmed from a July 2014 arrest for unlawful possession of cannabis, which is a Class B misdemeanor.
The 34-year-old Howard was ordered to pay $1,178.26 in fines and court fees and placed on six months of court supervision, which ends Friday.
