After helping Team USA win the gold medal at the FIBA World Cup over the summer, on Sunday Cavaliers' point guard Kyrie Irving was named the 2014 USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year.
The USA Basketball Board of Directors made the selection.
Irving took home tournament MVP honors after starting all nine games for the undefeated Team USA squad. He averaged 12.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.9 steals in 24.4 minutes a game.
