Carmelo Anthony missed Tuesday’s practice at SMU, is not expected to play Wednesday against Tyson Chandler’s Mavericks or Friday in Oklahoma City.
It appears Anthony injured his back landing awkwardly after a jump shot. It’s unclear if the injury is related to a more chronic disk issue.
The concerns are whether this becomes a season-long issue and related to the disk.
The 30-year-old Anthony, averaging 23.2 points a game, is already playing with a sore left knee. The summer weight-loss program that figured to alleviate nagging injuries hasn’t appeared to pay off.
