The bulk of the league's 30 owners/team reportedly favor amending the NBA Draft Lottery to discourage tanking by giving the four-worst teams each 12 percent chances to get the No. 1 overall pick, according to ESPN's Zach Lowe. The vote could come later this month and be implemented in May.
Under the current system, the worst team has a 25 percent shot at No. 1, with the second-worst at 18.8 percent and third-worst 15.6.
General manager Sam Hinkie and the Sixers, who are tanking for a second consecutive season and again have two first-rounders (the other is from the Heat), are in the minority in wanting to keep the status quo. Some project the vote to be 29-1, as numerous other clubs apparently aren't pleased with the Sixers' approach.
