The New Orleans Pelicans announced on Saturday afternoon that swingman Tyreke Evans will miss three to five weeks because of a strained right hamstring.
''Tyreke injured his hamstring playing pickup basketball out of town last week,'' Pelicans general manager Dell Demps said in a statement.''He is back in New Orleans rehabbing with our medical staff.''
The Pelicans are hoping Evans will be cleared in time to play in their Oct. 28 regular-season opener against the Orlando Magic at the Smoothie King Center.
