The Washington Wizards signed guard Xavier Silas to a training camp contract and are finalizing an identical deal with swingman Damion James, a person with knowledge of the transactions said Monday.
This will be the second straight training camp with the Wizards for Silas, who has been working out at Verizon Center recently. The 6-foot-5 shooter averaged four points in three preseason games last year and was released before the start of the season. He went to play in Israel and Argentina.
The Wizards expect to add more players to their training camp roster by the end of the week. Teams are allowed to employ a roster of up to 20 players during the preseason.
