DeAndre Daniels signs one-year deal in Australia

DeAndre Daniels left UConn a year early to chase his NBA dream. The Toronto Raptors drafted Daniels in the second round in June, but the 6-foot-9 forward’s first stop in professional basketball will be in Australia.

At the request of Toronto general manager Masai Ujiri, Daniels will leave at the end of the month to spend four months playing overseas.

“I’m going to Australia for four months, a long vacation, and I’m going back and will be with the Raptors,” Daniels said Friday night at Mohegan Sun for the Jim Calhoun’s Charity All-Star Classic.
