Cavs, Irving agree on $90M contract

Kyrie Irving agreed to a five-year, $90 million contract extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers that secures the star point guard as a cornerstone of the franchise.

Irving made the commitment early Tuesday during a meeting in New York with team officials, including new coach David Blatt.

Irving has one year remaining on his current contract. He can't sign the extension, which will take him through the 2019-20 season, until July 10 when the league's free-agent moratorium ends.
