For Al Jefferson and Kemba Walker to maximize their talent, the Hornets need to upgrade their outside shooting at small forward, shooting guard or both.
They were in the bottom third of the league last season in field-goal percentage, free-throw percentage and 3-point percentage, uncommon for a playoff team. The Hornets have auditioned many of college basketball’s top shooters in preparation for Thursday’s draft.
“In an ideal world,” Hornets general manager Rich Cho said, “you want a shooter who can also really defend. But in the real world, there’s not a lot of that.”
