The New Orleans Pelicans confirmed on Thursday afternoon that shooting guard Anthony Morrow has decided to opt out the final year of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
After averaging 8.4 points in 76 games and ranked fourth in the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage this past season, it was all but apparent Morrow was not going to exercise his player option with the Pelicans.
Morrow is likely to command a salary that exceeds more than $3 million per season and could extend up to at least three years.
