Within minutes of Monday's announcement that the Cavaliers had fired coach Mike Brown, there was a list of possible successors.
Some of them were logical, given new general manager David Griffin's long association with the Phoenix Suns, and some of them were pure conjecture.
Alvin Gentry, a players' coach who had a 145-116 record with the Suns including a 54-28 mark in 2009-10, and Vinny Del Negro, who was an assistant general manager during Griffin's time with the Suns, are two of the top candidates.
Other candidates are Mike D'Antoni, Steve Kerr, Mike Fratello, George Karl, Jeff Van Gundy and Stan Van Gundy.
