Cal coach Montgomery retires after 32 seasons

California men’s basketball coach Mike Montgomery announced his retirement on Monday after 32 seasons as a head coach.

Montgomery spent the past six seasons with Cal, going 130-73, including four NCAA tournament berths.

Montgomery, 67, spent 18 seasons with Stanford, compiling a 392-168 record, which included 12 NCAA tournament appearances, four conference titles, a 1998 Final Four and an Elite Eight appearance in 2001. He also spent eight seasons with Montana, winning 154 games.
