The entire Iowa State fan base held its collective breath with 22 seconds left in the Cyclones' 87-82 loss at Oklahoma on Saturday, when standout guard DeAndre Kane turned his left ankle and fell to the floor.
Iowa State's first loss of the season was overshadowed by the injury to Kane, who has played as well as any guard in the nation in recent weeks.
After the game, teammates carried Kane the entire way from the bench to the locker room area. X-rays taken after the game did not reveal a break, Iowa State team trainer Vic Miller said. But Kane's status for Monday's home game against Kansas, and beyond, remains in question.
