With nearly a minute left in the third quarter, chants of “Fire Kidd” briefly ran through the crowd at Barclays Center on Christmas Day, a not-so-kind referendum on the fate of Jason Kidd, the Nets’ embattled first-year coach.
When that chant failed to take hold, the fans instead took to booing the entire team.
It happened as the Nets reached new lows with a listless 95-78 loss on Wednesday to the Bulls, the same team that’s probably to blame for the Nets’ current malaise and a season that Deron Williams described as a “nightmare.”
Afterward, Kidd blasted his team in the locker room, according to an ESPN report. Not only did Kidd show his anger, but reportedly Kevin Garnett also vented his frustration with his teammates.
