Paul Pierce was ejected with 4:22 remaining the third quarter of the Nets’ 103-86 loss to the Pacers after being whistled for a flagrant-2 intentional foul on the Indiana point guard.
As George Hill leaped for a layup on a fast break, Pierce made contact with Hill’s head and neck area and sent him crashing to the floor. The foul was called, reviewed by the officials and ruled a flagrant-2, which warrants immediate ejection.
The Nets forward had been having a miserable night even before the ejection, going 0-for-7 from the field for a goose egg in the points column. It was just the second time in Pierce’s 16-year career that he has gone scoreless, the other coming as a rookie in his 16th career game in 1999.
