The Knicks could use a spare big man with Tyson Chandler out four to six weeks with a fractured right fibula. But there's no indication the team is going to sign former NBA center Jason Collins, a free agent who played for coach Mike Woodson in Atlanta and last spring became the first active American male professional athlete to announce he is gay.
Along with Collins, available free-agent big men include former Knick Earl Barron and Ike Diogu, who was in training camp with the club this year, plus DeSagana Diop and Louis Amundson.
