Maryland sophomore guard Seth Allen has a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his left foot and will miss eight to 10 weeks.
Allen was set to start at the point, but coach Mark Turgeon told ESPN.com that the role will fall to Dez Wells, with highly touted freshman Roddy Peters serving as the backup point guard.
Allen averaged 7.8 points and 2.3 assists a year ago as a freshman.
