Jeremy Lin will not start the Houston Rockets' season opener Wednesday vs. the Charlotte Bobcats (8 p.m. ET). The Taiwanese-American point guard and talk of the NBA during the 2011-12 regular season said Wednesday afternoon he accepts his new role after starting all 82 games last season.
Patrick Beverley, the scrappy defender who backed up Lin last season and played well in his stead during the playoffs, will start at point guard. Rockets coach Kevin McHale was reluctant to name his starters Tuesday, but forward Chandler Parsons let the news slip.
