Bucks' slippery court forces game cancellation

New floor suddenly turned into a slip-and-slide for the Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors in a preseason game Friday.

Players on both teams repeatedly slipped on the new hardwood court, which was being used for just the third time.

Referees Danny Crawford, Sean Corbin and Karl Lane consulted with Bucks executive vice president of business operations John Steinmiller and members of both teams' public relations staffs. After discussions that lasted about 20 minutes, Bucks television analyst Jon McGlocklin went to center court to announce to the fans the game had been canceled, citing safety concerns.

The game was stopped with the Bucks leading, 14-9, with 5:58 left in the first quarter. It was the final preseason game for both teams.

Steinmiller said the cause of the problem has not been determined.
