The Hawks trimmed their training camp roster to 17 players by waiving forward James Johnson Monday. Johnson appeared in four of the five Hawks exhibition games. He played a total of 48:26 and averaged 1.5 points and 1.5 rebounds.
Johnson (6-foot-9), a non-roster training camp invite, got a lengthy look at the start of training camp as he competed for an open small forward position. He ran with the second team and was one of the early substitutes at the start of the camp. However, the Hawks signed Cartier Martin last week to compete at the position after Damien Wilkins and Adonis Thomas were waived.
