Marc Gasol leads Grizzlies to first-ever 3-0 start
Marc Gasol scored 22 points, Zach Randolph had 12 points and 12 rebounds and the Grizzlies defeated the Charlotte Hornets 71-69 on Saturday night.
Gasol said the Grizzlies will have to improve dramatically on offense if they hope to keep winning. They beat the Hornets despite shooting 36 percent from the field.
The Hornets (1-1) were led by Al Jefferson, who scored 19 points on 8-of-19 shooting.
Mavericks 109 Pelicans 104
Dirk Nowitzki's knack for producing when it mattered was mirrored by the Mavericks, who squandered a 17-point lead and trailed by four points early in the fourth quarter before regaining the poise they needed to close out a hard-earned victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.
Chandler Parsons scored 20 points, highlighted by a deep 3 to put the Mavericks up 101-96 in the middle of the fourth quarter en route to their second-straight victory.
Anthony Davis had 31 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks for New Orleans.
Heat 114 Sixers 96
Chris Bosh had 30 points and eight rebounds and Mario Chalmers scored 20 off the bench to lead the Miami Heat past the Philadelphia 76ers.
Dwyane Wade had nine points and 10 assists to help the Heat to their second win in two games.
Tony Wroten had 21 points and 10 assists and Brandon Davies scored 18 points for the winless Sixers.
Raptors 108 Magic 95
The Raptors put all five starters in double figures for the second straight game and overcame a shaky start to the fourth quarter to run away from the Orlando Magic.
DeMar DeRozan led the Raptors to their eighth straight win over Orlando with 26 points and eight rebounds. Kyle Lowry had 21 points. The Raptors shot only 39.8 percent for the game, but outscored Orlando 38-12 at the free throw line.
Evan Fournier scored 18 points for the Magic, who have lost three straight.
