Marc Gasol career-high powers Memphis past Minnesota
Marc Gasol scored a career-high 32 points, and the Grizzlies beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 105-101 on Wednesday night for the franchise's first victory in a season opener since 2000, the year before the team moved to Memphis.
Zach Randolph added 25 points and 13 rebounds for Memphis, which had dropped its last 13 openers. Gasol also had nine rebounds, and Courtney Lee finished with 14 points.
Thaddeus Young had 26 points in his first game with the Timberwolves, going 10 for 18 from the field.
Nets 105 Celtics 121
Rajon Rondo returned for the regular-season opener and scored 13 points, adding 12 assists and seven rebounds in 30 minutes to help the Celtics beat the Brooklyn Nets 121-105.
Kelly Olynyk had 19 points and Jeff Green added 17 for Boston, which opened a 29-point lead at the end of the third quarter and coasted to the win.
Mirza Teletovic had 20 points and six rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench for the Nets, who trailed for all but a pair of free throws that opened the game.
Bucks 106 Hornets 108 (OT)
Kemba Walker knocked down two huge shots, including the 21-footer from the top of the key with 5 seconds left in overtime to lift Charlotte to a 108-106 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Walker scored a game-high 26 points and gave fans more reason to celebrate on a night when they welcomed the Hornets name back to the city after a 12-year absence.
The Bucks were led by Brandon Knight, who had 22 points and 13 assists.
Sixers 91 Pacers 103
Roy Hibbert had 22 points, eight rebounds and seven blocks, leading the Pacers to a 103-91 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.
Hibbert was 6 of 8 from the field and 10 of 13 from the free-throw line. His presence in the middle also created space for his teammates.
Tony Wroten led the 76ers with 22 points. Nerlens Noel had six points and 10 rebounds, making going 2 for 11 from the field.
