Miles, Scola lead Pacers past Hornets
C.J. Miles came out shooting Thursday night and scored 23 points to help the Indiana Pacers beat the Charlotte Hornets 88-79 in the preseason finale for both teams.
Miles made six of his first seven shots and from the field, and Luis Scola had 15 points and 12 rebounds. David Sloan added 11 points and eight assists.
Brian Roberts started for the injured Kemba Walker and led Charlotte with 19 points.
Pistons 109 Sixers 103
Kyle Singler scored 19 points and Josh Smith added 17 points and 10 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons beat the Philadelphia 76ers.
Detroit (5-2) was missing three rotation members -- Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Brandon Jennings and Jodie Meeks -- while the Sixers (2-6) used a rag-tag roster in the final preseason game for both teams.
Each team had six players score in double figures, with Henry Sims leading the 76ers with 17 points. D.J. Augustin had 11 points and 11 assists for Detroit.
Pelicans 88 Mavericks 85
Undrafted rookie Patric Young's emphatic follow slam with 2.1 seconds remaining helped the Pelicans secure the victory against the Dallas Mavericks.
Dallas guard Ricky Ledo's 3-point attempt to tie the game caught the front of the rim at the buzzer.
Tyreke Evans scored 14 points and Anthony Davis added 13 as the Pelicans' starters saw plenty of action in the team's final tuneup. The Mavericks were led by guard Gal Mekel's 17 points.
